Tamed World

Do you remember when life was real
When change was now
When tears could heal
When the touch of a hand was all I needed to feel

Do you recall all the songs we’ve sung
With the hearts of the old
& the lips of the young
Despite the sharp caress of winds on your tongue

The birds could be free
If the skies become clear
Free in beauty & pain
Free in pleasure & fear

This life could be new
Yet there’s no one to blame
For making the wildest
Of all worlds, so tame

Do you remember when dreams were true
When eyes were pure
& had a view
When all I needed to be was reflected through you

& when laws of souls were higher
Than an enslaving constitution
Before we brought the fire
To the star of revolution

Can you remember how we’d get away
From what they were
From games they’d play
Do you remember that we knew
We would be gone anyway

& do you feel
That it doesn’t feel the same
In a world that was real
& this one that’s so tame

  1. “For making the wildest of all world’s,
    so tame.”

You crafted the idea so beautifully.
It reminds me of ‘Into the Wild’.
“Hate to think of a wild man like you
    In a cage.”

May the illusion of progression one day be fully transcended.
May we all one day release & realign with the natural flow & balance of life.

You weave your pen quite gracefully, poet.
    I enjoyed the journey.

    • I still didn’t watch Into the Wild, but I wanted to, for a while now.. I’m glad you loved this piece.. thank you 🙂

  2. Nebo… I’m always at a loss for words. THIS is a true journey. Goodness.

  3. Right from the start you pulled me into this. I agree with Rome that you did a great job with the rhymes. If there’s such a thing as the perfect poem this one would be the it!

    • wow, now that’s quite something.. thanks so much for these kind words, bro 🙂
