Courageously childlike
Impatiently straight
So insanely You
Speaking from that stare
A wonder to an artist’s eye
A secret to the minds that roam
A needle to a heart
That within unknown seeks its home
Your face stains my mind
Otherwise clear
Usually awake
But there’s a treaty never signed
Between moments you’d give
& the ones that I’d take
Courageously silent
In thought, miles away
Since your heart couldn’t sing
Senses were alarmed
So spitefully childlike
So heavily guarded
Your smiles & your tears
Well… I’m still unarmed
That’s why I shiver
The same way you dance with the stars
Something that I couldn’t bear
Yet I feel
How you turn the wine into water
How you shift an uncertain When
Into a Neverwhere
