Wailing of the Night

I just felt the night cut through me
Call my name & let me feel
Like all the world out there awaits
For my hands to make it real

True
I felt it cut through me
That restlessness like before
& all I wished for that moment
Was to run out & explore

But in a dream that came then
She softly whispered in my ear
“It’s too late to go out there,
Where hearts in pain disappear”

& I pulled her closer, tighter
Just like the way life was before
& then she said “If you’re so wild;
You’ll always have me to explore”

& I awoke – to a new dream
More real but somehow not true
Wishing to be somewhere else
As hands moved from twelve to two

but I awoke; it went away
The beast was tame, sounds of night low
& I remained, waiting again
The silent death of afterglow

  1. I’m always so caught up in your story.
    This was no exception.

“It’s too late to go out there,
    Where hearts in pain disappear”

I’m so jelly that I didn’t think of this first.
    So dope!

  2. You were on point with this one. Several favorite parts for me here. I thoroughly enjoyed this well written piece.
