Remembering Life / Season of the Damned

Through the autumn cold
The nightfall sounds
& the taste of mist
I’m rediscovering the scene
The sight of a life frozen in time
With no pictures in between

Somehow the dark becomes a part of me
& I become the greatest accomplice of the night
Eternally runnin’, carelessly into unknown
To escape the dance with shadows
on the wall in a room with no light

To replay every sight
Unjustly forgotten
To renew every touch that they stole

To remember
The way things were
Back when the world seemed so big
But was so small

Through the heavy rains
Down the paths of dust
& the fields that smell of oblivion, I tried to go

But it never ends the way I want
On a flying fortress,
a sacred site with no ground below

Or a cemetery abandoned by people & ghosts
A hundred years ago

It never ends the way they tell
The stories ending up in wails
Or hails to the no-eyed king

It never ends, yet they can’t tell
The world beyond the tale
From words that in between the lines can sing

Life never ends, yet we fear death
A transition programmed

& tunes we’ve known to bring us joy
Are now only hymns of the damned

Wow!! You have such a beautiful way of painting imagery. I love it. 🙂

  2. This is, of course, unreal. “A sacred site with no ground below” – What striking imagery. Can it exist in a dream? A subjective reality? Are we inherently powerful for being capable of conceptualizing our own desires? These are questions I’ll be pondering after having read This, brother!

    • the words are secondary in this case, so any idea that this piece invoked is real.. the interpretations, however, are always different.. glad I made you think.. thanks, bro 🙂

  3. You take your readers into another world and they come back out with amazement of what they’ve just experienced. This is such as stunning piece!

    • & yet, without imagination, the readers wouldn’t be able to cross into that other world.. so it’s your “fault” as much as it is mine 😉 thank you!

  4. I don’t know if this one was about self-convincing but you damn sure convinced me. You know what never ends? Your talent bro.

    • lol you’re too kind, man.. thanks so much! 🙂

I believe I’ve read your work before somewhere else. You have an interesting way of writing that involves various interpretations. That is demonstrated by the reviews below,

    Nice writing.

    • that’s quite possible, I’ve been on a few poetry sites before… thanks for the review.. means a lot 🙂
