I wanted

I just wanted to be wanted

wanted worse to be the one

twice I’ve tried to let you know

that I want more or else undone

 

third time’s the charm

they say, I guess I’ll try again

and cause more harm

 

I just wanted to be needed

needed now to be enough

enough is enough they say

but letting go alone has grown too

tough

 

now I’m stuck here

wanting, needing

bleeding over what’s past

and now receding

 

fingers white

from holding on

too hard

too long.
