No One Ever Stays The Same

I recall a moment

years ago I dared to dream

I look back in torment

wonder how I hadn’t seen

sitting down I thought of once

thinking quite awhile

pictured you in a bright white dress

me at the end of an aisle

now I sit and dread the dreams

I wonder what went wrong

change, it seems is all it takes

to take your heart along

I recall again, a time

my heart did rearrange

I said “babe I love you so much,

please don’t ever change”

you said “no I can’t do that,

no one ever stays the same.”
