By Sidney E. Johnson
There are no dark skies where I am going
The light has slipped above the moon,
Its’ starlit embers glowing.
And I across the lily fields,
Am caught within pure beams of light
All shadows from my heart are vanquished,
At last, escaped the velvet night.
I have beheld joy and submitted to it
It draws my soul into the place of awe,
Unshackled I stagger through the lilies,
There are no words for what I saw,
There are no dark skies where now I stand,
The light doth overtake my soul,
And suddenly I know this is my promised land.
