Crucify

It’s good to be misunderstood
Stuck on a permanent high
Forever free in a heaven below
As the ghosts of the faceless
ride across the sky

as it echoes through the air of winter
the indistinct sound of an unfounded grudge
& I become the unknown idol
The hero who’d forgiven his judge

& if need for a martyr ever prevails
I’ll carry the cross, you bring me the nails
The statue high up will mock
Your cheap imitations
Of ideals I tried to preach
& too late you’ll see
Where the values lie
But there will be no one to teach

If your need for wishes desires for fails
The meaning will forever be washed off from tales
The depth & the beauty
Confined by a praise
Of a wooden figurine
Splattered with blood of heroes
Through ages unforeseen

It’s good to be misunderstood
Forever the one who’ll get to deny
The order of things in which we’re sinking
With a smile, unshaken pride
Carrying an infinite sky

  1. “The statue high up will mock, Your cheap imitations Of ideals I tried to preach
& too late you’ll see Where the values lie
But there will be no one to teach”. Ugh. Once again the imagery that you calture in ink is downright tangible. As always, im in awe of such a talent, bro. I cant even ?

    • it’s always a pleasure to read your comments.. this piece is sort of a non-christian interpretation of christian myths that became fascinating to me at some point.. so it’s great that you picked those lines cause I wanted to capture a universal meaning of the myth, but without avoiding its explanation of a specific, individual situation.. thank you so much!! 🙂

  2. “& if need for a martyr ever prevails I’ll carry the cross, you bring me the nails” that was my favorite line. I was like “whoa!” The whole poem flows well and you keep bringing out the hits. Great job!

    • if I had to pick my fave line, I’d choose the same as you… thank you so much for the support! 🙂

  3. “& if need for a martyr ever prevails I’ll carry the cross, you bring me the nails”

Religion is a subject I’ve only touched once. But this piece is on another level.

And those words above hold so much power. I may never look at a deviant the same way again.

You put religion on blast, but it was done in such a clever way. As not to judge.

    Impressive writing.

    • if you’re saying that I changed your mind about a certain thing, then I’m really glad I wrote/posted this,.. it came from a personal experience that I compared to the myth, & I was fascinated by how much I learned from it… I’m truly grateful for your words :)))
