I am the son of a man
of which who’s face I’ve never seen
and who’s voice I’ve never heard
Should I continue to believe
that worshiping a fallacy
is the life for me

If this is truly my father’s home
then why won’t the door open
when I turn the key
If he is truly
the one or me
then why won’t he reveal himself

I am the son of a man
who’s built an institution
on the backs of the naive
Shall I believe
that this man truly supports me

If this is truly my father’s home
then why am I still sitting outside in the cold
If I’m truly
a reflection of thee
then why won’t you reveal yourself

You claim that you’re happy now
You’re firm in your beliefs
It seems that you’re content
living in make-believe
Like cattle being led
to the inevitable
You look awake, when in reality
you’re really blind

I am the son of a man
who’s everywhere else
except where I need him
Should I concede
my wealth of reason
to a fallacy

If you wanna go to a place
where you won’t feel any pain
Then follow these commandments
and pray every Sunday
and listen to strangers preach
about a man they’ve never seen
and the image of a man they think they know
was created by a man decaying in a hole
and allow yourself to believe
in a commercial fallacy
and get down on your knees and pray
that your soul will be saved one day

If you’re truly my father then
why won’t you let me in
I’m tired of jumping through hoops
just to get to you
This beautiful house
is not a home
I’m just another brick
keeping it stable

  1. Damn..
    This is hard
    And, more importantly, relatable.

I like where you went with this.
    Excellent piece of writing.

  2. Beautiful! I’ve always hated the idea of peace in exchange for perfection, no matter who the “Father” may be. Excellent write!
