It’s All Fun and Games

Texted your clan members at noon to find out if they’ll be home
This evening, you need to rank up and you know you can’t do it alone
The raid requires 6 people and it’s pointless if you don’t have a full crew
You text your woman in hopes that she doesn’t want to spend time with you
She works late and comes home
You were on the game by 5
She makes your dinner and serves your plate on the couch
She eats silently by your side
She wants to tell you a funny story, so you adjust your Turtlebeach  earmuff to hear
Frustrated, you get mowed down because you didn’t hear the footsteps coming near
Seeing the look on your face, she stops and asks, “What is wrong?”
“CLEARLY, I died because I was listening to you. Hurry up, so it doesn’t take so long.”
She finished her story in record time, but neither of you laugh
She sees the annoyance on your face, which only makes her feel bad
For telling you how her day went
And what random things she was thinking about
But she only ends up grabbing both plates
And getting up from the couch
She does the dishes by herself, listening to you and your guys
Getting good gear, ranking up, completing quests on the rise
She showers, she dresses
Goes to the living room to tell you goodnight
Waits for you to hide behind a secluded rock
To give her a hurried peck on your time
She lies down and listens to all the conversation you have in the next room
Knowing it’s her fault that you’re addicted to the game that consumes
Every evening of your life and every night of hers too
It’s the default “normal” past time when you have nothing else to do
She could suggest a night out
She could offer to go somewhere fun
But in the end, she knows, it’s easier to go to bed alone
She doesn’t want to be the only one to always have the desire
To talk together, be together and plan for things inspired
She wants him to want her company
She wants him to need her near
Until then, she will pine alone and slowly disappear
