Precipice

ive been perched on a precipice
for years
im living on the edge of this
these tears
i stare down at the ocean
in silence
i cant keep my eyes open
my penance
the rubble obeys gravity
consistently
my perch will soon collapse
and my time will fin’lly pass
eternally
to the dark depths
i will sink
what do i have left?
is what i think
as my vision clouds with black
i take a breath
i wish i could take it all back
except my death

oh, farewell, i suppose
i inhale deep through my nose
will i live? god only knows
i feel my eyes start to close
as i swim towards infinity

  1. My perch will soon collapse and my time will finally pass” like that line. Foreboding but also optimistic in its own thought.

i think bittersweet is the most potent emotion, and its usually what drives my writings. i was trying to stick to a more solidly formed poem, since i kinda drift off into prose halfway.
