Nots

Ever feel defeat? Like the bottom of your       heart is a string pulled taught, wrapping     around your feet? Hunched shoulders;         you’re whole chest straining just to                 breath.

So much heat. Your lungs expand,  your            heart rises, just long enough to beat.

Sit down.

I know anxiety says no but just go ahead and take the seat.

Make time to carefully unwind the                    cardiac twine from the twists of deceit.      Youll find alot of what you look to                     untie are expectations you still believed     you would meet.

  1. That’s the thing about anxiety, if you don’t run away from it, face it head on, it has a tendency to lose its hold on you and then you can breathe again. Nice write!

Dear Poet, you have described the state of anxiety very finely in this poem. Meditation is a wonderful panacea for anxiety and stress.
The layout of the poem adds to the expertise of the inking.
I almost held my breath when reading, it is a very engaging poem.
    Thank you for sharing…

  3. Something in me felt eerie after writing this, like I’ve heard it before on this site. If anyone has a poem like this, just wanted to let you know I sincerely did not mean to steal any ideas or schemes.
