The warm smell of a roaring bonfire.
The burning sensation on my face.
The closer I get, the more alive I feel.
I watch the embers dancing playfully to their own tune.
How can something so ferocious be so embracing all at the same time?
The branches crackle and glow in the evening.
I look up and see more beauty in the sky than I have ever encountered before.
Thousands upon thousands of eyes gleaming down at me.
Each with their own unique story to tell.
Shining brighter than even the most precious of diamonds.
Have they always hung above me like that?
Has there really always been that many?
In the silence peace falls like snow as I take it all in.
Even in the warmth of the fire it makes me shiver.
How long has it been since I have felt that emotion?
The unfamiliarity shook me to my core.
When did I forget how to enjoy living?
The racing and pacing of the fast paced life dug its claws into me
Blinding me from the beauty that was once so easy to see!
What relief, this part of life has not permanently disappeared.
Here in the dark of the night I have found you.
