You come – you keep coming back
as one weary, harassed by the world,
as one on whom the seductress hasn’t smiled.
She doesn’t wink at you nor bestow her favours,
so you come to Me that I might draw her back to you.

What is your surrender?
What is your devotion to Me?

An addition to your arsenal, your repertoire,
an addition to your bag of tricks,
a business transaction.
Your surrender is hope
for the realization of your worldly desires.
You surrender insofar
as it is suitable to you,
your surrender a refined, slipperier still
version of you.

You’re a clever creature
whose attachments to the sensuous world
seek their validation, their justification
in your version of Me.

What is the look of frustration,
of internal conflict, contradiction?
The look of one
drawn to the seductress,
of one who believes and values her promises,
seduced by the notion he has surrendered to Me.
