Resurrection Motor

Every night I worship that fragile memory

The pieces of a puzzle that is you

But the halo grows dim

& your face melts away

Into either gold or rust

But not every time it ends

Between the displaced other world

& a darkened room

Though it was long ago

Damned not to rise from dust

Every night I summon the face of an angel

Erasing it over & over again

Until there’s nothing left

But me & my visions

Wandering through the dark

Wondering if I could be remembered

By the fiercest of hearts

In my own garden, in the mind of a child

Not a love, just a memory

A secret world in a watermark

In the morn, there’s only a breathing shell

An unspoken lie, & a dream to come

& be forgotten

Consumed by the heavy tobacco smell

Its heart forever softly pounding

But it’s still rotten

Faded

Only an image has survived

To become tomorrow

what it failed to relive before

two minds – not as one

yet together

my words a song for the moment

& your body a map that I’d explore

Sometimes I forget

that we could be much more

  1. “my words a song for the moment
& your body a map that I’d explore”

    Hells YES!
    1,000x.. YES!

That’s the type of imagery that I wait for, in every one of your poems.

    Masterful with a pen.

  2. Tons of beauty. I especially like your vocabulary here, the choice of unused words, they’d thank you if they could.

And the story you tell, we’ve been there, everything is bittersweet when it comes to past love.
Splendid symphony of regret with a perfect closing line.

    Thanks for sharing

    • lol “thanks for sharing” xD i wouldn’t be sharing here if it weren’t such an awesome community.. thanks for reading 😛

  3. The imagery in this really comes out full force. Feels a little less dream like and more conscious. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen those shows where they create images out of colored sand, but the way you described the face being summoned and erased reminded me of that. I like the feeling of monotony and necessity in each visit with this image! This poem was really interesting to explore, I’m really blown away by this Nebojsa! I think I’ll read it a couple more times because I feel like there’s a lot more to discover!

    • I think there’s a lot more for me to discover as well.. I tried to go as deep as possible into what I’ve felt over a longer period of time, & I also tried not to edit any of the lines here.. thanks for this amazing comment, bro.. 🙂

  4. A beautifully composed poem! Sounds like something I would write myself. The words here is pure gold and finished reading this with a smile on my face. Well done!

    • thanks. bro.. I’m glad it’s got the positive vibes as well 🙂
