Some will be guilty in this vast human playground
there will be crimes and violence
there will be grieving and deeply felt pain.
There are ragged junkies with itchy need
just across the street
they scream at night GET OFF MY PROPERTY
and sit on the porch in the parched morning
staring at their shoes and their phones.
Socrates erupted out of the goo and got a car loan.
The serious gorilla stared at me through the glass then
took a drag from the glass pipe and went away for awhile.
The walking fish sold me insurance
the exploding star after filing for bankruptcy
became a democrat
and the protoplasm with the inferiority complex bought Cheerios.
I saw all those trillions of sperm lost
to the toilet and the careless floor
and then I saw you shoplift a pack of cigarettes
as the trained monkey with the pillbox hat
gave investment tips to the organ grinder.
He stared at his shoes and his phone, so sick so tired so weak.
He saw an ant pass by his foot dragging a crumb
from last weeks hot dog
struggling mightily with the weight of it
so he could bring it to the colony
precious food, survive survive.
He was going to step on it,
but decided not to.

this is the first poem ive read in a while that blth engaged my heart and mind, evoked emotion and incited inquiries. well done.
thanks for that! feedback from peers is priceless
i know the feeling. keep writing! you’ve definitely got skill.
Engaging, raw, slaps you into reality with the mentioned observations.
I read it a second time, sad, but unfortunately a very true side of our world.
thanks for your feedback!
