The Day the Dragon Moon Whispered the Secrets of the Rain

I heard somewhere
that the Chinese call the May moon
the dragon moon.

I never understood this…

Well, not until last week
when I beheld the waning moon in all her glory,
like an argent-silver halo
resting atop a lonely sky,
and I was beguiled
by her beauty.

It is almost as if she were a double-edged sword,
piercing intense
the marrow from my bones
breath from my bosom,
and the earth from the sky,
as I was rendered voiceless
while she breathed
her firy truths.

She said…

“On a hazy summer day
in the sun-drenched month of May,
the glow of a golden haze
shall arrest your wandering gaze,
and the spirit of the storms
shall splash over your attention
with silver droplets
adorned in affection,
to convey the nature of the rain.

Remember,
beautiful, innocent, and fragile
is her pain,
yet deeply complex, and somewhat fallow,
but far from shallow.

Her laugh shall brighten the barren wilderness of your heart,
once so hollow;
she shall smile and you shall follow,
in search of the source of her glorious silver showers,
yours and hers
loneliness left undone,
as together you sift through shattered pieces of the sun.

It’s like you shall be two souls
divinely intertwined
by a longing for the gentle rain,
joined together amidst a cloudless day.”

But alas…
only in my dreams
will an iridescent dragon moon pierce the clouds
And whisper the secrets of the rain
To my thirsty soul.

“as together you sift through shattered pieces of the sun” Wow wow wow 😄

Your poems always feel more familiar when you mention the rain. I’m aching to write one about it but I can’t. I’m so happy to read your poem though ☺️

    • Thank you for reading, and commenting. I can’t wait until the day when I am able to read one that you’ve written about the rain. If it’s anything like your other works, I’m sure it is going to be genius.
